Alexis Sanchez: Man Utd star thinks they will block transfer to ONE CLUB amid poor form | Football | Sport
Sanchez joined Manchester United from Arsenal during the January transfer window, snubbing Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has, though, come to regret that transfer having managed just four goals for the Red Devils since his move.
Alexis Sanchez reportedly wants to leave Manchester United with reports in Spain suggesting he had offered himself to Real Madrid, who failed to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.
But, despite wanting a move away, a move to Manchester City now looks impossible.
Back in January, City were widely expected to secure the services of the Chile international.
Guardiola had managed Sanchez at Barcelona and that close relationship was seen as key to a transfer, with the player primed to become a free agent in the summer.
However, United left their rivals reeling when he opted to move to Old Trafford instead.
Sanchez was told by Jose Mourinho that he would be central to his plans.
With the player spending more time on the bench than in the squad, however, that promise has been broken.
The Independent say, though, that he will not be allowed to join City.
Sanchez himself reportedly feels a move to the Etihad Stadium is ‘off the table’.
United and City rarely exchange players due to the ferocity of their rivalry.
Owen Hargreaves was the last to cross the divide, moving to City, but only after United had cut him loose.
Before that, was Carlos Tevez.
Tevez had spent two years on loan at United but, frustrated at being behind Dimitar Berbatov in the pecking order, chose to join City on a permanent basis instead.
That move worked out for the Argentina international, who won the Premier League title in 2012 at United’s expense.
