Arsenal transfer news: Former Gunners striker reveals 'big issue' for Unai Emery
Wilshere’s current Arsenal deal is up at the end of June and he could leave his boyhood side for free.
The club have confirmed the midfielder has been offered an extension but he is yet to put pen to paper.
He was reportedly set to have talks with new Arsenal boss Unai Emery this week to thrash out his future.
Wilshere has been most recently linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus.
Mariner cannot see that transfer happening, but reckons the 26-year-old should leave the Emirates.
“The worrying thing about this is that Jack’s stalling now,” Mariner told ESPN FC.
“So obviously his contract ends in about three weeks time, couple of weeks time.
“For Arsenal not to have got him locked in, signed up, sorted out, that’s a big issue. So it seems as though his agent is calling around.
“I’ve said, and some people have criticised me for saying it, that I think Jack needs a new challenge.
“Yes there’s a new manager in and I understand that, but I just think Jack needs to get away from that environment.
“Wilshere to Juventus with Emre Can? Maybe the pace of the game in Italy may suit him, I don’t know.
“I’m going to say a miss, I can’t see it.”
