Lucas Torreira deal
Arsenal are set to sign Lucas Torreira ‘in the coming hours’ after agreeing a deal with Sampdoria.
The Gunners have been in talks with the Serie A outfit over a £22m move this summer.
But reports on Tuesday suggested no agreement was close between the respective parties.
However, according to claims in Torreira’s native Uruguay, the midfielder will now sign a deal with Arsenal before the start of the World Cup.
According to Embajadores del Gol the 22-year-old’s agent Pablo Bentancur flying out to Russia this evening with a contract.
Torreira has a €25m (£22m) release clause at Sampdoria, which must be paid in full up until 60 days after the transfer is confirmed.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos announcement
Arsenal will unveil Sokratis Papastathopoulos as their second summer signing next month.
Unai Emery has already completed this signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus, with the right-back joining on a free transfer.
And according to ESPN, Arsenal have completed a deal to sign Greek international Papastathopoulos.
However, it will not be announced until July due to Dortmund’s fiscal calendar.
Papastathopoulos, 29, was out of contract next summer, with Arsenal paying around £16m for the centre-back.
Arsenal and Chelsea will play a pre-season friendly in Dublin, Ireland.
The two sides were due to play in Stockholm, Sweden on August 4.
But Chelsea’s FA Cup success means they will now play in the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 5.
And as a result, the August 4 fixture has been moved forward to August 1 at the 51,700 seater Aviva Stadium, kick-off at 8.05pm (UK time).
