Arsenal transfer news: Yacine Adli performs HUGE PSG U-turn
The Frenchman looked all set to sign for Unai Emery this summer, the same coach who handed him his first-team debut at the Ligue 1 giants last season.
But it appears an 11th-hour change of heart means Arsenal are now set to miss out on Adli this summer.
According to French outlet RMC, the youngster has decided to snub a move to north London and sign a new three-year deal with PSG on Tuesday.
Sporting Director Antero Henrique is said to have convinced him to remain at the Parc des Princes beyond the summer.
Arsenal chief scout Sven Mislintat was said to be a key figure in the deal, along with Emery.
The Gunners were set to pay £230,000 to PSG as a compensation fee to PSG for Adli’s signature.
And excitement had been building at Arsenal over the potential deal.
Last week, club legend Robert Pires said: “He’s a talented player. He has very good qualities, very fast with the ball. Sometimes he can score.
“I know Unai Emery likes this player. I don’t know what’s happened the last two days, but if he joins Arsenal, I think he will be a good player for the new squad.
“He’s young and it’s very difficult to leave your family, your country and find new players, new football and a new philosophy.
“It’s very difficult, very tough, that adaption. But I know Arsenal is like a family, so if he wants, he can make a success of his career at Arsenal.”
