Arsenal news: Unai Emery told to complete £10m deal, how Carrasco transfer affects Arsenal star

The 2018/2019 season may be over, but there is still plenty going on when it comes to Arsenal.

With the summer transfer window now open, the rumour mill is in full swing, and the Gunners last week confirmed the seven players being released upon the end of their contracts later this month.

Many supporters will be hoping head coach Unai Emery is able to add to a squad which came fifth in the Premier League and runners-up to Chelsea in the Europa League final.

A reported budget of £45m does make things a little harder, but that’s not stopped a host of players from being linked with a move to north London and that should provide optimism for fans.

There’s also the release of the Premier League fixture list for next season on Thursday. Who will the Gunners get on the opening day? What new signings – if any – will be in action?

Whilst you wait for those questions to be answered, we’ve gathered all the latest news from around the Emirates Stadium in the past 24 hours, take a look below…

Why Arsenal must sign Alexis Claude-Maurice

Ex-Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere has urged his former club to take a “gamble” on Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice as the Gunners target bargain additions in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are among a host of clubs monitoring the 21-year-old, with West Ham and Everton also understood to retain a strong interest in Claude-Maurice.

In 35 appearances in Ligue 2 last season Claude-Maurice scored 14 goals and provided four assists for Lorient but, as they mull moves for Yannick Carrasco and Ryan Fraser, Arsenal are believed to be debating whether the youngster would be able to make an immediate impact Unai Emery’s squad needs in wide areas or is more of a developmental project.

Either way Aliadiere, who played alongside Claude-Maurice at Lorient, is convinced that the youngster represents a shrewd investment at a reported price tag of £10million.

What Yannick Carrasco to Arsenal means for Reiss Nelson next season

Arsenal need to sign a winger and after a January loan deal fail to materialised Yannick Carrasco has again been linked with a move to the Gunners this summer.

The players Arsenal should avoid in the transfer market this summer

There are plenty of players who have been tipped for a move to  Arsenal  this summer.

But while pundits and former players speculate about those that Gunners head coach Unai Emery should swoop for in the transfer market, among the considerable amount of big names linked are some footballers who should be avoided at all costs.

Emery has a preference for hungry youngsters, along with slightly more experienced players who buy into his ethos of the high-press.

Yet the former PSG boss did at times last season appear frustrated with bigger name players such as Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who did not fulfil their undoubted talents during a disappointing season.

Which is why Emery would be advised to shun headline names as he looks to build on the positives gained from what was a transitional first year at the Emirates for the studious Basque.

football.london  takes a look at those across the continent which Emery and director of football Raul Sanllehi should avoid this summer.
