Arsenal provide injury update on four players ahead of Napoli second leg

Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez has not travelled for the Europa League clash with Napoli.

Suarez has struggled during his loan spell from Barcelona , making just six substitute appearances for the Gunners.

His last outing came over a month ago and Suarez wasn’t even on the bench for the win over Watford on Monday.

Arsenal have confirmed Suarez has been struggling with a groin problem and will not play any part in the quarter-final second leg.

Suarez’s agent had previously suggested the Serie A side would be interested in signing him with a permanent transfer to the Emirates likely to be off the table.

Speaking this week, midfielder Granit Xhaka suggested Arsenal will prioritise finishing in the top four over the European trophy.

“We want to stay in the top four and we want to be in the Champions League next season. For me, the Premier League comes first and if you can go to the final and take the Europa League, of course it is nice as well,” he said.

“I think we need different character away. It is not always easy to play, we have to take on the duels, we have to win the duels, and if you do that you can win the game.”
