Chelsea news: Kepa Arrizabalaga reveals details of transfer chat with Man Utd star | Football | Sport
Kepa moved to Stamford Bridge in a sensational world-record £70million move from Athletic Bilbao in the summer.
He has made an excellent start to his career, helping the Blues to second in the Premier League table by keeping four clean sheets in his eight top-flight games.
And the 24-year-old Spain star says his international team-mate helped with the transition from La Liga.
“Every player settles into a new league in different ways,” Kepa said.
“David is a team-mate with the national team and we get on really well.
“When I signed for Chelsea, he gave me some advice, telling me a bit about how it was for him when he came here.
“Of course, he has been here for years now and is playing at a fantastic level.
“We were at the World Cup together and had a good chat about the differences between Spanish and English football.
“It’s a good thing to interact with a top goalkeeper who has so much experience in the Premier League.”
Keep has to contend with being De Gea’s understudy for Spain, although he did play 45 minutes in their 4-1 friendly win over Wales last Thursday.
But he has made the number 1 shirt at Chelsea is own since coming into replace Thiabut Courtois, who left for Real Madrid.
He says he is happy about the start the he has made but insists there is more to come once he is fully settled.
“You need a little time, the usual sort of time it takes to get to know your team-mates and the league itself, but it’s all good generally, I’m very happy.”
