Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri makes Liverpool and Man City admission after Cardiff win | Football | Sport
Sarri’s comments came after the Blues’ 4-1 win over Premier League new boys Cardiff.
His team are sat top of the league after five games, the only team other than Liverpool to have a 100 per cent record.
Despite the strong start to the season, the Italian insisted his team can get better.
Saturday’s win against Cardiff equalled the club’s best start to a Premier League season by this point.
Sarri, recently described as a perfectionist by Antonio Rudiger, believes there is still more to come from his team.
“We can improve,” he stated.
“At the moment, for me, Liverpool and Man City are better than us.
“Manchester City and Liverpool are another step up to us but I think we can improve.
“Our goal is to be the best team in England but it will take time.
“It could take more than a season but that is our target.
“We are not as solid as I want in the defensive phase. We knew they were dangerous from set-pieces and we were not ready to answer.”
Blues fans have hailed the introduction of ‘Sarriball’, as Chelsea have adopted a more attacking style than in previous years.
Eden Hazard stole the show as Chelsea ran out 4-1 winners against a sorry Cardiff side.
Chelsea travel to Greece later this week to play PAOK in the first round of the Europa League, before travelling across London to take on West Ham.
