Chelsea transfer news: Blues odds-on to complete Pulisic deal ahead of Liverpool
Reports yesterday claimed the Blues have opened talks over a summer move for the 19-year-old.
The Bundesliga giants are demanding around £65m for the USA international if the forward decides to quit Dortmund.
Liverpool are also in the hunt for Pulisic, however, Chelsea are determined to beat the Blues to the attacker.
And the bookies say the Blues are odds-on to sign Pulisic, with Liverpool next in line to swoop for the Dortmund star.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Christian Pulisic may only be 19, but he already has over 60 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and more than 20 caps for the USA and has impressed many in his short career.
“Chelsea look to have jumped to the head of the queue for his signature and are the 4/5 favourites to be the club he ends up at after the summer transfer window.
“He’s 6/4 to remain at Dortmund, while he’s 5/2 to move to Liverpool, which would see him reunited with Jurgen Klopp, the manager who engineered his breakthrough at the German club.”
With Chelsea and Liverpool battling for Pulisic, ESPN FC pundit Paul Mariner reckons the Dortmund star should join the Reds over the Blues.
He said: “It’s very attractive to go to Chelsea.
“It’s very attractive to go to Liverpool. I just think he’s got to be careful of where he goes. This is a very important move.
“If he goes to Chelsea, what happens generally to players that go to Chelsea? They get sent out on-loan again.
“Can he break into the side? Can he take (Eden) Hazard’s spot? Of course he can’t. Can he take Willian’s spot? No. He’s not going to play him through the middle.
“The people looking after him have got to be very, very careful.
“This is an incredible move for Pulisic if he goes to the Premier League because the marketing side of the game, particularly in the USA, the club will make millions of dollars.
“Looking at it purely and simply from the player’s viewpoint, I’d stay at Dortmund for another year.
“But if I was going to go, I’d go to Liverpool. He knows (Jurgen) Klopp, Klopp knows him, he’d be fantastic to come in and out for (Sadio) Mane and (Mohamed) Salah.
“I think that would be a better move.”
