Chelsea transfer news: Maurizio Sarri set for Bernard woe as agent flies for Milan talks
Chelsea’s transfer activity has been slower than usual this summer due to the uncertainty surrounding the manager’s future.
Although Maurizio Sarri succeeded Antonio Conte earlier this month, only two players have been acquired – Jorginho from Napoli and Rob Green, who was a free agent, on a one-year deal.
The Blues are eager to bring in some more fresh faces before the transfer window closes on August 9.
Reports last week suggested that the west London outfit are favourites to secure a deal for the 25-year-old, who failed to sign a new deal with Shakhtar last term.
And according to Italian paper LaGazetta, Bernard’s agent has flown to Italy to try and secure a deal for his client with AC Milan.
While he’s seen as an attractive proposition for the Blues and Milan, Bernard supposedly prefers a move to the latter.
The news will come as a further blow to Sarri who missed out on Aleksandr Golovin, who joined Monaco.
Should Bernard join Milan, it would be a welcome boost to the San Siro giants who are looking to close the gap to Juventus who romped to the Serie A title last term.
Bernard scored 10 times in all competitions for Shakhtar last term.
