Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi: Manchester United star Marcus Rashford makes JOKE claim
Real Madrid ace Ronaldo and Barcelona forward Messi are expected to light up this summer’s World Cup.
Rashford could also shine in Russia playing his first World Cup for England at just 20 years of age.
And having grown up as a Manchester United fan, the striker is in doubt as to which of Messi and Ronaldo is the greater star.
Ronaldo spent six years at Old Trafford before going on to Real Madrid where he has won the Champions League three times in a row.
And Rashford believes the Portugal man is one of the greatest players ever to play the game.
“He’s a joke, isn’t he?! I’d have (his FIFA 18 stats) all full,” Rashford told Rio Ferdinand for a YouTube video.
“He’s won five Ballon d’Or’s and he still has that determination and drive to improve. You know, he does it for himself and that is a massive quality on its own.
“(Most) people don’t have that, he’s got that and that is what makes him one of the best ever.
“He is the best I’ve ever seen. Growing up and seeing him play live, him and Rooney, when they were at the best, everyone wanted to be like them two.
“The stands, every home game. Since I was about six or seven, that was close to home. When people ask me Messi or Ronaldo, it is always Ronaldo.”
Ronaldo has international honours to his name after helping Portugal to Euro 2016 while Messi was part of the Argentina squad that lost the 2014 World Cup final to Germany.
For Rashford, he’ll be hoping to help England end 52 years of hurt this summer.
