Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League by CFR Cluj, after losing 4-3 at Celtic Park.

Fans were left fuming after the result, which would see the club enter the Europa League qualifying rounds.

Some fans even called for manager Neil Lennon to be sacked.

One fan tweeted: “I hate you Celtic.”

Another added: “Money in the bank doesn’t prevent goals.”

“Sack the board. Time to accept we are no longer as strong as we were two years ago rip it all up and start again,” fumed a fellow fan.

“Manager has to pay with his job for this. #lennonout”

Another simply put: “Lennon out asap.”

Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League before the group stage after losing to Cluj.

The club will now head into the Europa League play-offs in a bid to qualify for Europe’s second competition.

Celtic drew 1-1 in Romania, and lost 4-3 at Celtic Park, in a shock result.

Cluj took the lead on the night through Ciprian Deac, before goals from James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard took Celtic into the lead.

Cluj’s Billel Omrani scored on 74 minutes to level the tie, before a quick response from Celtic’s Ryan Christie.

Omrani scored his second goal of the night with ten minutes remaining, before netting again in the 97th minute as Cluj won 5-4 on aggregate.

Celtic poured men forward but were caught on the break.

Neil Lennon’s team will now face either Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova, or AIK of Sweden in the Europa League play-off round.
