Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson reveals his prediction for Premier League title race | Daily Star – Daily Star

That’s according to former Premier League centre-forward Jonathan Walters, who says Ferguson told ex-Red Devils defender Phil Bardsley that United will get something out of their clash with Manchester City on April 24.

Both Liverpool and City kept pace in their enthralling title race yesterday afternoon.

The champions first picked up a 3-1 victory away at Crystal Palace, before Jurgen Klopp’s men ran out 2-0 winners at home to Chelsea.

It means the latter sit two points clear at the top of the table, albeit having played a game more than City.

“[Sir Alex Ferguson] thinks Liverpool are gonna win it”

According to Walters, though, it’s the Reds who have Fergie’s backing.

“I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I’m gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.

“He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are gonna win it.

“He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”

Walters dropped his bombshell about Fergie’s tip for the title amid:

Chelsea were the last Big Six opposition on Liverpool’s schedule this season, with just Cardiff, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves remaining.

They took the lead on 51 minutes yesterday when Sadio Mane headed home from close range.

Mohamed Salah then sealed the victory two minutes later, firing in a terrific strike from the edge of the area that left Kepa Arrizabalaga hopeless.

And Reds boss Klopp says the Egyptian’s stunner blew him away.

“It blew me away,” he said. “I didn’t think anything in that moment but I know I was really happy because I was in line with the ball and maybe I saw first that it would go in.

“It was a really outstanding finish and I don’t want to minimise that but I loved the first goal, too.

“I was immediately reminded of the 4-3 against Borussia Dortmund. Hendo instead of Milly and Sadio instead of Dejan, but good team play, good cross, good header.

“The performance was really good but you need the goals, and we got them.”
