Everton transfer news: Richarlison passes medical, announcement imminent
Richarlison arrived at Finch Farm this morning to undergo his medical at Everton ahead of a big-money transfer from Watford.
And the Toffees look set to make the move official after he passed his medical, with only the remaining paperwork to sort out before an official announcement is made.
The Brazilian emerged as Everton’s top target in recent weeks with the reported fee touted to be as high as £50m.
It has since emerged the fee will be closer to £40m – just under £30m more than what Watford paid to sign him last summer.
Marco Silva was the manager of Watford when he signed Richarlison and the 21-year-old was an instant hit at Vicarage Road, exciting fans with his trickery and pace.
However, Richarlison struggled after the turn of the year when Silva was relieved of his duties as Watford manager and failed to find the net or register an assist for the remainder the season.
It is believed Silva’s presence at Everton played a crucial role in securing the services of Richarlison.
The winger was left out of Watford’s friendly with Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday after a breakthrough in negotiations with Everton.
Everton had also been linked with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom, but they have missed out with Roma beating them to his signature.
But they could be set to bolster their central defensive options with reports linking them with a move for Barcelona’s Yerry Mina.
The 23-year-old impressed at the 2018 World Cup with Colombia, scoring three goals, but restrictions over the number of non-EU players Barcelona can use has led to strong speculation linking him with a move away from the Nou Camp.
And Jair Mina, the player’s representative and uncle, has acknowledged Everton are an option.
“Everton is a club that insists on the player, who has called us directly,” he said.
“There are other teams like Zenit, but we hope Barcelona will take the initiative. He wants to play and do it in Barcelona.
