Fantasy Premier League tips: Is your squad prepared for GW9?
The international break is finally over and Premier League football is back, but is your side ready to bring in a huge points haul this weekend?
A host of injuries over the past two weeks have played havoc with the best-laid fantasy football plans, causing managers to head to the transfer market in search of solutions.
While key FPL favourites Mohamed Salah and Christian Eriksen appear to have come through fitness scares, the likes of Sadio Mane, Wilfried Zaha and Dele Alli are expected to miss out and need replacing.
Several bargain players are available for gaffers short of cash while there is also the captaincy choice to consider – so take a look at our last-minute hints and tips to help plan ahead of FPL GW9.
Top FPL transfer tips
DEF: Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) – £6.3m
The Scottish left-back is the safest bet to start in defence for the Reds.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was left out against Man City and Lovren is back in the mix, but Robertson’s position looks bulletproof.
MID: Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton) – £7.4m
Solid mid-range midfielders are proving popular in FPL this season with James Maddison among the most sought-after stars, and Sigurdsson has moved into that category after two maximum bonus points performances.
FWD: Glenn Murray (Brighton) – £6.6m
If you’re looking for a budget differential option away from the Bournemouth strikers, Murray is your man.
The only top half teams Brighton must face in the next eight weeks are Wolves and Leicester.

In-form FPL players
MID: Johann Berg Gudmundsson (Burnley – £6.0m) – 7.5 form
Gudmundsson has three goals and two assists in his last trio of games.
However, Burnley face Man City and Chelsea in their next two gameweeks.
MID: Raheem Sterling (Manchester City – £11.1m) – 7.7 form
Sterling is winning the fight to become Pep Guardiola’s main man aside from Sergio Aguero.
The 23-year-old has cast a shadow over record signing Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane so far this season.
MID: Eden Hazard (Chelsea – £11.3m) – 9.0 form
Hazard’s four biggest gameweeks equal a combined 55 points, with the Belgian delivering massive totals on a consistent basis.
If you don’t have him, you’ll fall further behind.

Best-value FPL bargains
Hector Bellerin (Arsenal – £5.4m) 1.2 value
Arsenal have hit a purple patch with two clean sheets against Everton and Watford followed up by a 5-1 thrashing of Fulham.
Bellerin provided an assist against the Cottagers and is still relatively cheap.
Pablo Zabaleta (West Ham United – £4.3m) – 1.3 value
Started the past four Hammers matches, managing two clean sheets, an assist and four bonus points.
Matt Doherty (Wolverhampton Wanderers – £4.7m) 2.1 value
The stand-out star in the Wolves defence with three double-digit points hauls in his last four matches.

Who should I captain in FPL GW9?
Harry Kane (Tottenham) vs West Ham (A)
Kane’s favourite team to play against are the Hammers.
He has scored seven goals in nine games against them – the same amount he has bagged against Arsenal.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) vs Burnley (H)
Always a popular shout for the captaincy.
However, he has only scored in three out of eight games this season, so he’s not our top choice for the week.
TOP CHOICE: Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) vs Leicester (H)
Not only does Lacazette come with top form (four goals, four assists in his last six games) and a favourable match-up against leaky Leicester, but he’s still very much a differential option.
He could be crucial to success this week.
