Fantasy Premier League tips: Who should I captain in FPL GW3? | Football | Sport
Fantasy Premier League bosses have a host of inviting captain options to choose from ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
Manchester City stars are demanding investment following their 6-1 thumping of Huddersfield, with Pep Guardiola’s side heading to newly-promoted Wolves next.
However, Liverpool also boast plenty of alternatives to hand the armband to when Jurgen Klopp’s men welcome Brighton to Anfield.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are still without a point after two matches but could be about to turn a corner with fellow strugglers West Ham in the firing line.
Sergio Aguero is a leading candidate following his impressive hat-trick against the Terriers last time out.
The Argentinian appears to have temporarily avoided the threat of rotation and will look to punish those FPL gaffers who have overlooked the in-form striker.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are all expected to offer a threat against a Brighton side who struggle on the road.
There are also differential options from Crystal Palace, Fulham and Everton to consider, while Arsenal could finally hit their stride – but who will you select to pick up double points?
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)
A hat-trick against Huddersfield has propelled Aguero to the forefront of FPL bosses’ thinking, with the Argentinian avoiding the threat of rotation last time out.
A trip to Molineux is next up for Pep Guardiola’s side and Wolves have already conceded two goals in each of their two matches so far this season.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – Brighton & Hove Albion (H)
Two assists against Crystal Palace was a satisfying return from a difficult evening at Selhurst Park.
The Egyptian is a good bet to get among the goals once again when Brighton visit Anfield, with the Seagulls notoriously poor on their travels.
Sarah potentially represents the biggest ceiling for points if Liverpool really get into their stride, although Sergio Aguero may beg to differ.
Richarlison (Everton) – Bournemouth (A)
The Brazilian has got off to a flier following his summer move from Goodison Park, picking up three goals in his opening two matches.
Richarlison could add to his tally when Everton travel to Bournemouth for what is likely be a high-scoring affair.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) – West Ham United (H)
Yet to find the back of the net in 2018/19 but it’s surely only a matter of time for the Gabon international.
Aubameyang missed two big chances against Chelsea but should find his feet ahead of a tempting run of fixtures for the Gunners.
The 29-year-old will still pose a threat from out wide, even if Alexandre Lacazette returns to the starting line-up.
Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – Watford (A)
The forward has penned a new deal with the Eagles and looks vital to their hopes in the Premier League this season.
Banked a goal on the opening weekend and will fancy his chances against an impressive Watford.
Zaha could prove one of the biggest differentials over GW3.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) – Burnley (H)
Mitrovic opened his account for the season with an improvised goal against Tottenham last time out and will back his chances against Burnley at Craven Cottage.
The Clarets are struggling to juggle their domestic and European commitments, offering a chance for Fulham to punish their over-stretched squad.
Eden Hazard (Chelsea) – Newcastle United (A)
The Belgian forward has been restricted to substitute appearances so far this season following his return from international duty.
However, a trip to Newcastle could offer the first opportunity for a fully-fit hazard to be thrown back into the action right from kick-off.
