give young players an opportunity
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has been sent a clear message from the club’s fans that they want to see him give youth a chance.
Sarri has made a superb start to his Stamford Bridge reign, following an unbeaten run that saw his team stop for the international break as joint leaders of the Premier League table.
But despite the fact Sarri has made quick progress in terms of results and the team’s style of play, there has not been much encouragement for Chelsea’s youth graduates.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has lost his place in the England squad after playing just 99 minutes of football for the Blues this season, although injuries have held the 22-year-old back.
The midfielder is now expected to return to Crystal Palace on loan in January and defender Andreas Christensen this week revealed his displeasure about losing his place under Sarri.
Christensen, also aged 22, is yet to make a single appearance in the Premier League and hinted he could look to leave Chelsea if his situation does not improve.
Sarri raised eyebrows by leaving 17-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi out of his squad for the Europa League victory over MOL Vidi, while 18-year-old Ethan Ampadu is still waiting for his first senior appearance of the season.
