Hirving Lozano transfer news: Mexico World Cup star could have joined Manchester United
PSV Eindhoven ace Lozano established himself as one of the breakout stars of this summer’s tournament by scoring the decisive goal in Mexico’s shock win over Germany.
And he’ll be eager to continue making his mark in Russia as Mexico look to escape Group F and qualify for the knockout stages.
A whole host of Europe’s top clubs have been tipped to make moves for Lozano, nicknamed Chucky, once the World Cup ends.
Manchester United could well be ruing missing out on the 22-year-old having made their interest in signing him known to his former club Pachuca in 2016.
Pachuca revealed Manchester United wanted Hirving Lozano
Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi revealed Manchester United got in touch about Hirving Lozano two years ago.
“There have been approaches [from Manchester United],” said Fassi.
“There will be time to focus on the future of Hirving Lozano.
“For several years Pachuca has had great relationships with many teams of England, in Portugal, in Spain, in France, in Italy and in Germany.
“[There] are some agreements that allow the player to go to Europe in the future.”
What Hirving Lozano said
Hirving Lozano admitted he was in the dark about Manchester United’s interest while he was playing for Mexico at the Copa America in 2016.
“I think I’m calm. I have not been told anything,” said Lozano.
“I don’t know about it and I must concentrate on the national team, finish the tournament and then see what happens.
“The truth is I cannot say [where he will play next season]. First, I want to focus on this tournament, give my best and after talking to my club, we’ll see what the chances are.”
