Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp delivers injury update on Roberto Firmino | Football | Sport
Liverpool made it five wins in a row at Wembley as they beat Spurs 2-1.
Firmino got the all-important second goal with a tap-in but he was substituted in the 74th minute after a clash with Jan Vertonghen.
And after the match, Klopp said the Brazilian will need to be assessed.
“I’m not sure, but there may be an injury with Roberto, we don’t know exactly in the moment,” said Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s something with his eye, we will see.
“I didn’t see it back. I only saw the situation from around 60 yards.
“I have no clue what exactly happened.
“But it’s something with the eye and for sure in the moment it’s not comfortable for him.
“We will see.”
Klopp hailed his players for their display which kept them top of the table and put pressure on their rivals.
He said: ”That was very, very good. It was an intense job to do and the boys did it.
“We deserved to win that game today. Over 85 minutes we were really dominant.
“With and without the ball we caused them massive problems. The things they usually do usually work, but they didn’t today. The boys stuck to our plan today and it was really good – everybody worked so hard in what was a good performance.
“That was our best game of the season and the performance was much better than the result.
“That was a tough game, man! Two good teams, two big teams, football as it should be. We won the game and if we win at Tottenham it’s a big result. The players did the job and they worked unbelievable hard, and I’m really proud of them.”
