Liverpool news: Angry Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe slams Mo Salah goal | Football | Sport
The Egyptian was clearly offside when he netted the first of his treble in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Salah converted the rebound from Roberto Firmino’s long-range drive in the 25th minute and doubled the scoring with a clinical second just after half-time.
Steve Cook turned into his own net in the 68th minute and Salah completed his hat-trick by rounding keeper Asmir Begovic twice with 13 minutes left on the click.
But Cherries boss Howe insists it could have been a different afternoon if Salah’s opener was rightly ruled out.
“(It was a) tough game obviously,” he said.
“I thought the first goal was a really key moment in the match and until that point I thought we did okay.
“We defended well and kept them away from our goal. “Salah is offside and the goal shouldn’t stand.
“In these games when you’re playing the big guns you need decisions to go your way.
“It’s similar to Arsenal when we had a perfectly good goal disallowed – key things in a hard match.
Howe admitted his side should have been more alert when Salah netted his second of the match.
“It’s another goal where we look at it and think we’ve shot ourselves in the foot,” he added.
“I think we’re well set in the game to have a good second half.
“We were positive at the end of the first half and I thought we’d come back into the match.
“I believed in the players that we could give it a real go but the second goal deflates us to build that momentum that we needed at the stage of the match.”
Yes of course. The expectation is on us always, it does;t matter who we play.
You can’t look at these games nd think they’re too difficult to win. We don;t believe that and we go away again disappointed.
