Liverpool news: Roberto Firmino and his wife post eye injury update after Spurs win | Football | Sport
The Brazilian proved to be the eventual match winner as his second half strike helped Liverpool make it five wins from five with a 2-1 victory against Tottenham.
The forward was then forced off the field after a clash with Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian appeared to accidentally swipe at Firmino and pictures later revealed that his finger gouged his eye.
Jurgen Klopp revealed he didn’t know the extent of the injury at full-time.
“I’m not sure, but there may be an injury with Roberto, we don’t know exactly in the moment,” said Klopp.
“I didn’t see it back. I only saw the situation from around 60 yards. I have no clue what exactly happened.
“But it’s something with the eye and for sure in the moment it’s not comfortable for him. We will see.”
After examinations at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Firmino confirmed he was making a positive recovery.
“It was a scare, my eye is ok and so am I. Thank you for all the support and see you soon. #YNWA”
Firmino’s wife, Larissa Pereira also gave Liverpool fans some hope that her husband maybe back in time for the Champions League clash with PSG.
Her Instagram message translates to: “People are leaving news in the press that does not precede.
“At first this is okay with Roberto, he has already been examined and is returning home, thank you for the concern of everyone.”
Firmino travelled back to Merseyside with club doctor Andy Massey and will continue to be monitored at Melwood.
