Liverpool transfer news: Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane overruled on Mohamed Salah deal
Real Madrid continue to be linked with Liverpool forward Salah with the transfer window opening this week.
The Egypt international has struck 44 goals across all competitions, with Los Blancos now making him a priority target.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon say the prospect of Salah signing from Liverpool does not sit well with Real manager Zidane.
It is claimed that he would prefer the La Liga giants to pursue Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Zidane has long dreamed of signing the Belgium international.
During his time as a assistant coach, the Frenchman told Real president Perez to sign Hazard from Lille.
However, having won the Champions League in 2012, the Chelsea star chose a move to west London instead.
Don Balon say Perez is the one who wants Salah the most, having seen his stunning displays for Liverpool this season.
The Real chief is willing to for Hazard eventually – but only after they land the Reds talisman.
However, Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson thinks Salah will stay at Anfield and rebuff the La Liga giants’ approach.
“Unfortunately, there’s been a history of player sales and that’s just how the football club is – but I really don’t see it at all,” he said.
“He loves playing for Jurgen Klopp, he loves his team-mates and he gets the whole Liverpool thing.
“He’ll already be on big money. Unless Real Madrid say they’ll treble his wages I don’t think he’ll go, but I suppose you never really know.”
