Liverpool transfer news: Reds favourites to sign Mario Gotze with Arsenal miles behind
Borussia Dortmund are understood to be open to selling Gotze this summer.
The 2014 World Cup winner joined his boyhood club from Bayern Munich two years ago for £20m.
Gotze, 26, scored just two goals all season for Dortmund.
He has been linked with a move to PSG, where former manager Thomas Tuchel has taken over at the Ligue 1 giants.
And bookmakers Betstars have priced Liverpool up as favourites – ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea – to land the playmaker.
Liverpool are a short 5/2 to get the deal done this summer.
The Reds are in search of a new attacking star after failing to capture Nabil Fekir from Lyon earlier this month.
They have already signed a defensive midfielder in Fabinho, while Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig in July.
Discussing his previous move back to Dortmund in 2016, Gotze recently admitted Jurgen Klopp had tried to sign him at Anfield.
“I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool,” Gotze told the DAZN documentary ‘Being Mario Gotze’.
“And I was also interested in working with him again.
“It’s still existing.
“He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option.”
Arsenal, with Unai Emery now in charge, are 12/1 to sign Gotze, a jump in the odds that highlight just how confident the bookies are that Liverpool will get their man.
