Liverpool transfer news: Reds to axe THREE youth stars as they close in on Chelsea deal
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is wasting no time in going about his transfer business with the Premier League season over and it seems changes are also taking place within their academy.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Paulo Alves, Toni Gomes and Mich’el Parker are all set to leave Merseyside.
Alves came closest to making his first senior appearance for the club when he was named on the bench by Klopp for the FA Cup tie against Plymouth in January last year.
Alves has been at the Kirkby Academy since 2015 after previouslyplying his trade at Porto.
Gomes’ three-year spell at the club will also come to an end after the 19-year-old failed to impress on loan at Forest Green Rovers earlier this season.

Parker, signed from Arsenal in 2015, is the other casualty of Liverpool’s clearout with the centre-back managing just two Premier League 2 appearances this season.
But with three departing, Neil Critchley’s side already have one replacement lined up in the form of Chelsea’s Christie-Davies.
The highly-rated 20-year-old midfielder had a trial with the Reds back in March and instantly impressed bosses.
The ECHO claim Liverpool have now submitted a contract offer to him in the hope of prising him away from west London.
Liverpool are keen to take advantage of Christie-Davies’ situation at the Blues, with the club yet to offer him a new deal with his contract expiring this summer.
Christie-Davies helped the Blues win back-to-back FA Youth Cups in 2014/15 and 2015/16 and made a name for himself in their UEFA Youth League winning side in 2016.
Should Christie-Davies accept Liverpool’s offer, he will follow in the footsteps of Dominic Solanke.
Klopp snapped up the talented striker last summer but looks to be facing a fight on his hands to keep hold of him during the transfer window with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly keen on signing him.
