Van Dijk is proving to be one of Liverpool’s best ever signings in the Premier League era.
The £75million price-tag now looks like a steal with the defender playing a vital role in Liverpool’s title challenge.
He has played more minutes than any other outfield player for Liverpool this season, and is currently odds-on favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year.
That may depend on whether Liverpool can maintain their lead at the top of the table.
But with Van Dijk just 27 years old, Liverpool can count on him for years to come.
And Klopp amazingly believes the Holland international will be able to perform at the highest level until he is nearly 40.
“He has so many things already good and so many he can still improve,” Klopp said.
“Most important that he is fit. It’s all good.
“I think much more positively about my players than I talk to you about them.
“He can play until he’s 39 or so and there is a lot to come. He has outstanding potential.
“He’s a fantastic person; he’s physically strong; he has all the technical things you need as a centre-half.
“So many things are already good and many things he can still improve.
“Most importantly is that he is fit [knocks table] and so far that has helped a lot.
“It helped him a lot as well by the way because he could get rhythm and stay on track.
“Chris likes him, I can imagine. I like him as well.”
