Ryan Kent decision
Ryan Kent has been told to snub potential moves to Leeds United and Aston Villa to return to Rangers for another season.
That’s the verdict of former Rangers front-man Kris Boyd, who says Ibrox is the player’s best fit if he wants a future at Liverpool.
”If Ryan Kent is going to be a Liverpool player, up here is perfect for him to learn the way that Liverpool play because Rangers are doing the same thing,” Boyd told Sky Sports News.
“If he’s going to be a success at Liverpool I think he’d be better staying at Rangers rather than going to a team that’s at the bottom of the Premier League or a team in the Championship.”
Jurgen Klopp should not pursue a deal for Lille’s Nicolas Pepe this summer, because he doesn’t suit Liverpool.
That’s according to Steve Nicol.
“I really don’t get this one,” Nicol said on ESPN FC. “Yes he’s had a good season but he just doesn’t look like a Liverpool player to me.
“He’s a little unorthodox, he looks gangly. He has got it done, the stats bear that out.
“Unfortunately it is Ligue 1 and I’m not a huge fan of Ligue 1, I don’t think the standard is particularly great.”
Joel Matip contract
Joel Matip insists he is “very comfortable” at Liverpool amid suggestions he will be offered a new contract.
Speaking to Bild am Sonntag, he said when asked about a return to the Bundesliga: ”In football nothing is impossible. At the moment I still have two years remaining in my contract here at Liverpool.
“After some problems and injuries at the beginning meanwhile I feel very comfortable here. And I’ve been more mature as a player and as a person here in England.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain contract
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks set to extend his stay with Liverpool, reports claim.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current £120,000 per-week deal expires in June 2022 and the Daily Mail claim he’ll sign a one-year contract extension at Anfield.
The 25-year-old missed the majority of Liverpool’s Champions League-winning campaign.
He did, however, make two Premier League appearances in the final three games of the season and was an unused substitute in the 2-0 victory over Tottenham in Madrid.
Nicolas Pepe not happening
Liverpool are not interested in Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
That’s according to the Evening Standard, who claim Jurgen Klopp isn’t looking for a marquee signing this summer.
Speculation of a £60million Premier League move for the exciting winger has been rife in recent weeks with Manchester United also credited with interest.
However the Evening Standard claim Klopp wants to make smaller purchases to boost his squad depth, rather than a major addition.
Liverpool will kick off their 2019/20 Premier League season away to Burnley according to leaked fixtures that have been posted online.
Leaks happen almost every season and these are not confirmed games but if they turn out to be true then Liverpool will surely be happy to start with what looks like an extremely winnable fixture at Turf Moor.
