Man Utd news: Chelsea lead Romelu Lukaku transfer race after Jose Mourinho exit claim | Football | Sport
Manchester United forward Lukaku was signed by Mourinho two years ago but, despite impressing at Old Trafford, has been tipped to leave.
ESPN pundit Craig Burley thinks he will go should Mourinho’s head roll, saying: “He’s one of a number of United players that, once Mourinho goes, will have to be outed by the new regime. Whether that be a sporting director or a new manager.
“He’s a good player but, watching him lately, he’s not making the right runs.
“I wouldn’t call him a clever striker – he’s big and powerful and gets his ratio of goals. But it’s against the weaker teams.
“If he’s not playing well and not making the runs, Marcus Rashford is a natural striker.”
And Coral have now made Chelsea the favourites at 3-1 to sign Lukaku.
The Blues were eager to sign him before United with Antonio Conte making him his No 1 target in 2017.
But United pounced with Paul Pogba’s intervention seeing him leave Everton for Old Trafford instead.
PSG are available at 902 with Inter Milan then 6-1.
AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and former club Everton are at 8-1, 10-1 and 12-1 respectively.
“Chelsea missed out on Romelu Lukaku when he left Everton, however, the betting suggests if the Belgium international does leave Manchester United, he will make the move to Stamford Bridge,” said Coral’s John Hill.
Lukaku, though, has hit out at his critics.
The fact remains that he is United’s undisputed No 9 and, at £75million, will take some ousting.
And Lukaku recently let rip in an x-rated Snapchat video.
He said: “To be honest… I don’t really give a f*** about what people say.
“People will talk s*** regardless what you’re trying to achieve in life.”
