Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho given Jadon Sancho asking price by Borussia Dortmund | Football | Sport
According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Juventus are ready to enter the fray.
It’s suggested Dortmund have already slapped a mammoth asking price on their prized asset.
The youngster is now valued at £70m by the Bundesliga heavyweights.
Sancho is a youth team graduate from the Manchester City academy but moved to Germany on a free transfer.
Jose Mourinho, however, is desperate to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese is also set to receive some serious backing from Ed Woodward.
Reports have suggested a £100m war chest could be on the cards.
Mourinho was desperate to sign a centre-back in the summer.
Attempts to sign Milan Skriniar, Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Diego Godin and Jerome Boateng all proved fruitless though.
Boosting his back line looks set to be a priority for Mourinho, but extra firepower could also be added the squad.
Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have both underwhelmed in recent weeks but Mourinho has been boosted by a resurgent Anthony Martial.
Sancho has been similarly impressive in the German top tier despite his limited experience.
The 18-year-old has bagged five goals and assisted seven in 17 appearances with Dortmund.
His team-mate, Thomas Delaney, reckons Sancho has a big future in the game.
“You can see straight away that he is a great player,” he told reporters.
“He plays with a lot of joy – he is a very positive player.
“He doesn’t see boundaries, he sees opportunities, and you see that in his style of play.
“He is always seeking a challenge, always a one versus one or one versus two.
“I am sure he will be a bright star in the future.
“He is very relaxed as a person. There is big pressure at a club like Dortmund, but maybe he has come at the right moment where maybe there is not that expectation to win a trophy, but to build the team.
“From my own experience, a national team is a little bit different than playing league football, but he is performing at Dortmund, and that gives you every tool in the box to perform at international level.
“He is 18 years old, and it’s crazy to say that you expect so much of him to perform in the national team, but I am sure he will. If not now, then later, because he is such a big talent.”
