Man Utd news: Marouane Fellaini is the BEST in the world at THIS | Football | Sport
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool star Steve McMahon.
Fellaini has made 13 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions this season, scoring one goal.
Of those 13 outings, seven have been as a substitute, including when he scored off the bench in the Carabao Cup match against Derby.
Fellaini started the 3-1 loss to rivals Manchester City on Sunday and United boss Jose Mourinho was disappointed he had to start the Belgian, due to an injury to Paul Pogba, instead of bringing him off the bench.
“He was not ready to play for 90 minutes,” Mourinho said of Fellaini.
“I can imagine when it was 2-1 to bring a fresh Fellaini, I think they would be in big, big trouble.”
And McMahon says Fellaini is so vital for Manchester United because he makes a huge impact at both ends of the pitch.
“He likes Fellaini, he likes him in both boxes,” he said on The Debate.
“He’s the best substitute in world football.
“He’s the best plan B I’ve ever seen in world football, both for country and for club.
“You can play him anywhere, anytime, bring him on whether you’re winning, bring him on whether you’re losing.
“He affects the game because he can change games when things are stale and he needs a goal.
“When he wants to tighten up, he will bring him on.”
Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith was working alongside McMahon.
And he claimed Fellaini’s impact on games is natural to him and not through coaching from Jose Mourinho.
“That’s not so much about coaching though is it,” Smith said.
“That’s just Fellaini as a player.”
