Man Utd transfer news: Gareth Bale and Marko Arnautovic updates revealed
United have responded to a disappointing season by striking deals for Fred and Diogo Dalot as they look to bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad.
A whole host of other reinforcements will be required though if the Premier League trophy is to return to Old Trafford next May.
Mourinho has been tipped to sign an attacker to fill the right-wing berth which has proved troublesome during his time at Manchester United.
And reports indicate he will follow through with that plan despite current competition for places meaning a top prospect could leave.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are still looking to snare a forward this summer.
Bale, who has hinted he could quit Real Madrid, is said to be one of Mourinho’s targets.
And the Welshman is joined on that shortlist by West Ham’s Arnautovic, who played under Mourinho at Inter Milan.
United’s continued determination to nab an attacker comes amid uncertainty around Anthony Martial’s future.
Martial’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, revealed on Wednesday his client wants out of Old Trafford.
“After thinking about all the possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United,” said Lamboley.
“When Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make him an important player.
“It is a well-considered decision. He is under contract, United will have the last word and we will respect the decision of the club, it will go to the end of its commitment.
“We do not have the same vision on Anthony’s future. Without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.
“I will not comment on the consequences of the January transfer window. Everyone will have his opinion, I think he must resume the course of his career. The time has come.”
United believe Martial, who’s being chased by Tottenham, Chelsea and Juventus, can still make the grade in Manchester and do not want to sell.
But the France international’s desire to move on to pastures new is highly unlikely to relent if they snap up Bale or Arnautovic.
