Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho decides David De Gea replacement and staff agree | Football | Sport
De Gea looks increasingly likely to leave Manchester United and has been a long-standing target for Real Madrid.
The Spaniard has so far refused to commit to a new long-term deal that has been on the table for a while.
Juventus have also been eyeing a deal for United’s No 1 as they seek to strengthen between the sticks despite Wojciech Szczesny being top choice.
And now according to The Sun on Sunday, United are weighing up a deal for Pickford.
The report suggests that Mourinho has been an admirer of Pickford for some time and he has the support of his staff.
However, it is unclear whether Pickford would be able to resist a big-money move to Old Trafford.
United have also been keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak.
The Slovakian – who conceded just 22 league goals in 37 appearances in the 2017/18 season – dropped a hint he could leave in the future.
He said: “I like to hear people say that I’m the best goalkeeper in the world.
”I work hard to do that but my award is a result of the hard work of the whole team because they help me a lot.
“I thank them, the coaching staff and the fans.
“I hope that I will continue for many years at Atletico and in La Liga Santander.
“For the time being, I am here.”
United, meanwhile, return to action on Saturday at home to Crystal Palace (3pm).
