Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho told to stop World Cup scouting and sign Gareth Bale
That’s the verdict of former Old Trafford favourite Dwight Yorke, who says the Real Madrid winger is ideal for United.
Gareth Bale has been on United’s radar ever since Ed Woodward became executive vice chairman and that interest has intensified under Mourinho.
The Wales international put a host of clubs on high alert after starring in the Champions League final when he revealed he may quit Real.
Bale is one of a number of players to be linked with United, with Mourinho set to cast his eye over impressive performers at the World Cup too.
Yorke insists the United boss should forget about the aces on show in Russia though to ensure a deal for Bale is tied up.
“United and Jose don’t need to look at the World Cup,” Yorke told 888sport. “No player suits us more than Gareth Bale.
“Yes there will always be some exciting candidates to look at but Bale is someone who excites me.
“He is the right age, in his prime, and will be the perfect addition.”
Real may ask for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as part of an agreement for the £100m-plus rated Bale.
However, De Gea hinted he is content with life at Old Trafford before jetting off to the World Cup with Spain.
“Usually I’m always calm, the important thing now is to start the World Cup on June 15th,” said De Gea earlier this month.
“Is the most important thing. Do well in Russia, have a good role and do things in the best possible way.
“Future? I’m happy where I am, happy. Now, very focused on the national team.”
United are also thought to have Chelsea wideman Willian in their sights as they look for a solution to their right-wing dilemma.
