Man Utd transfer news: World Cup stars Hirving Lozano and Benjamin Pavard wanted in spree
United have already bolstered their squad since the end of the season with the additions of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
But Jose Mourinho has no plans to stop there as he seeks to build a side capable of contending with Premier League champions Manchester City.
The Manchester United boss is eager to add another dimension to his talent-laden attack, as well as strengthening in defence.
The latest reports indicate Mourinho has two breakout stars of the World Cup in mind as he gears up to splash yet more cash.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, signing Mexico forward Lozano is a “goal” for United.
Lozano, nicknamed Chucky, shone as Juan Carlos Osorio’s men reached the round of 16 in Russia.
And that helped the burgeoning reputation he has developed while playing for PSV Eindhoven grow further.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Lozano’s spell in Holland could soon be coming to an end.
He might not be the only player to get a move to United off the back of an impressive World Cup though.
United are said to be one of four clubs who will be taking a keen interest in Sunday’s final.
Stuttgart defender Pavard is poised to line up on the right side of France’s defence against Croatia.
And La Gazzetta dello Sport reckon Mourinho will be joined in watching him by City, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
Pavard has exhibited his attacking prowess as much as his backline credentials as Didier Deschamps’ men have reached the final.
And he might just follow fellow 22-year-old Lozano in heading to Manchester before the transfer window shuts.
United have until Thursday August 9 to wrap up any remaining business this summer.
So Ed Woodward and co. are in for a frantic few weeks as they look to provide the goods for Mourinho.
