Conor McGregor Reveals The Two Manchester United Players Who Have Impressed Him Most

Conor McGregor might be more Jose Mourinho in his style when it comes to dealing with press conferences but the Irishman is a big fan of how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing at Manchester United.

There’s not many better talkers in any sport than Conor McGregor and Jose Mourinho. You may not always agree with what they say and the two men may not always back it up but they know what to say in a press conference and they rarely waste or mince words.

Ahead of McGregor’s most recent fight, the loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Irishman was very vocal and wound up his opponent and aimed jibes at the Russian’s manager about his personal life.

In the end it got him and Khabib in trouble, sparking off the ugly post fight scenes that led to fines and bans for both men.

Mourinho’s style in matches might not be that explosive these days but he retained all his usual attributes even in the dying days of his time at Manchester United.

However despite the obvious similarities between the two men the Notorious is very much enjoying United’s time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking to FIFA about his fandom, Solskjaer and the two players he’s been most impressed with McGregor said:

“Manchester United was my team. It was only the other day I came across wearing that infamous grey United jersey, which I bought with my [First Holy] Communion money at eight years of age.

“Ole Gunnar is a special man! I think he’s done an incredible job with United. They have to give him the job permanently.

“You can feel the pride and passion he has for the club and its history, and see the players honoured to wear the Red Devils crest under him. He’s really got the players performing.

Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have been particularly outstanding under him. They are young, confident and fearless athletes who believe in their abilities.”

Another former Manchester United employee who has often been compared to McGregor is former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In the past the Swede has said that the former two weight UFC champion was the MMA version of himself but the UFC star reckons it’s the other way round, saying, “I respect Zlatan and his positive-winning-mentality mindset, but let’s get this straight: there is only one Conor McGregor!

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is trying to be the Conor McGregor of football – good luck to him.

Zlatan vs McGregor is definitely a war of words we’d like to see play out.
