Next Arsenal manager: Sol Campbell reveals shock truth about Patrick Vieira approach
Reports on Tuesday afternoon claimed Arsenal had made contact with Vieira within the 24 hours previous.
The New York City boss was said to be disappointed with the approach, believing it was just a “token gesture”.
But Campbell has today refuted claims his former team-mate has even been contacted.
Campbell appeared live on Sky Sports News this afternoon and says he spoke to Vieira yesterday.
“I spoke to him,” former England centre-back Campbell said.
“I don’t think he’s been contacted!”
Sky Sports presenter David Garrido replied to Campbell, saying: “Well it says he’s got a token gesture, a call, he has been contacted but he’s far from happy.”
Campbell replied: “What, today?
“Yesterday he wasn’t contacted!”
Campbell reckons Vieira would do a good job if given the chance to take over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
“I think so (he would be a good choice),” he added.
“He knows the club inside out.
“The only thing when you look at it is structure now. What’s the structure now?”
