Premier League transfer news, rumours: Lionel Messi Inter Miami, Manchester United, Mesut Ozil, Paul Pogba, Mitrovic
JUVENTUS are plotting an audacious player-plus-cash move for Paul Pogba, while Lionel Messi is the target of a sensational swoop.
That and more in another edition of Rumour Mill!
INTER MIAMI WANT MESSI FOR DEBUT SEASON
David Beckham’s Inter Miami franchise are reportedly eyeing a sensational swoop for Barcelona star Lionel Messi in a bid to sign a marquee name for their debut season.
The new MLS team are set to enter the competition in the 2020 season, and the Daily Mail report that several executives in the league believe Inter are targeting Messi in the hope of making a massive statement in their first campaign.
Messi’s Barca contract runs until the end of the 2020-21 season and the Argentine will be 33 at the time of the alleged swoop.
UTD PLANNING MOVE FOR OZIL
Manchester United are said to be monitoring Arsenal star Mesut Ozil and are plotting an audacious move for the German in January.
Express report that Jose Mourinho continues to keep tabs on the German, who was thought to be a United target last season prior to signing a massive new contract with the Gunners.
Rumours have circulated that Ozil had a falling out with new manager Unai Emery, and the star has reportedly been told to justify his huge pay packet on the park.
Mourinho was openly disappointed with the lack of arrivals at Old Trafford in the recently closed window, and could make a big splash with a raid on their Premier League rivals, especially for a player of Ozil’s calibre.
The recently retired German international has two-and-a-half year to run on his deal at the Emirates.
JUVE TO OFFER DYBALA FOR POGBA
Juventus are planning to use Argentine forward Paulo Dybala as a makeweight in a deal to bring United star Paul Pogba back to the club.
According to the Mirror, the Italian champions are keen to re-sign Pogba in a deal worth up to £150m (A$274m).
Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Turin has displaced the 24-year-old from the first team, and the player is thought to be considering his options, with a January exit a possibility.
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford continues to be up in the air, with Mourinho admitting that he’s ‘completely in the dark’ over his star’s movements.
A player-plus-cash swap could see United wipe their hands of Pogba, who has repeatedly been linked with rifts with his manager, with Dybala arriving in his place.
CHELSEA INTERESTED IN MITROVIC
The rampant form of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could be set to earn him a move to Chelsea.
The Serbian arrived permanently at Craven Cottage from Newcastle after a successful loan spell in the second half of last season, and now the Blues are interested in the free-scoring forward.
The Mirror report that the Stamford Bridge side are amongst a number of clubs impressed by his exploits early in the Premier League season and see him as a potential replacement for stuttering front man Alvaro Morata.
Mitrovic has scored four goals in five games to kick off the season and the 23-year-old is now a target for rival clubs.
