Real Madrid want TWO players ahead of Eden Hazard: Chelsea star is THIRD choice – pundit | Football | Sport
That is the verdict of ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.
Eden Hazard has made it clear it is a dream of his to move to Real Madrid one day.
The Belgium international is undecided over whether to extend his stay at Chelsea, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2020.
However, Burley does not think Hazard will be Real Madrid’s No 1 target when looking for a new forward.
The Spanish giants have been linked with Neymar and Mbappe in recent months and the Scot reckons Real will attempt to sign either of them first.
Burley was asked about Real’s reported interest in Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.
And he said Sterling will be even further down the list than the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Hazard.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if any player was keen on going to Real Madrid,” Burley said.
“Eden Hazard has touched on that over the last 48 hours discussing his contract situation at Chelsea.
“So it would not surprise me that anybody wanted to go.
“What would surprise me is if he (Sterling) was high up on Real Madrid’s list.
“Real Madrid are going to be looking at people like, first of all, Neymar, who it’s been mooted that they want, then Mbappe.
“There’s been talk about Eden Hazard but he sort of fits into the ‘if there’s a sign that we’re not getting Neymar or Mbappe, we could play out cards with Eden Hazard’.
“Then you’re dropping down again to the Raheem Sterlings.
“As good a player as he is, I like him don’t get me wrong, but I would have all those guys before him and probably a few other guys.”
Hazard is the top scorer in the Premier League this season with seven goals from eight games.
