Roberto Firmino: Liverpool star arrives at Anfield to hand Jurgen Klopp major PSG boost | Football | Sport
Firmino has been a major doubt for the match after he was accidentally poked in the eye by Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Brazil attacker was sent to a hospital after the match and later discharged with an abrasion of the eye but no long-term damage.
Firmino did not train with his team-mates on Monday but Jurgen Klopp was still hopeful he could play.
And those hopes appear to have come to fruition after he was pictured arriving with his team-mates at Anfield.
Firmino was all smiles as he wheeled his luggage and his appearance with the Liverpool squad suggests he should be fit enough for a place on the bench at least.
If he is unable to start, Daniel Sturridge is most likely to lead the line.
But in his pre-match press conference, Klopp refused to rule his striker out of contention.
He said: “He is much better.
“We all saw the picture and we were massively worried. But all these worries are away so he will be fine.
“If he will be fine, I don’t know in the moment.
“We are obviously in close contact with him and it improved already – but in this moment I can’t say if he will be available.”
Another player hoping to start is Jordan Henderson, who’s late involvement at the World Cup with England has meant he’s not being a regular this season.
But the Liverpool captain says he accepts the situation.
He said: “I came back later than everybody else so I can’t expect to just come straight back in.
“The lads worked so hard in pre-season and you can see the benefits already in how fit they are and the rhythm they have got from playing games.
“They’re at a very, very high level – you see that in the performances, they have been fantastic, winning games.
“So it’s normal for me that I’m not playing, I can accept it. It just means I’ve got to keep working hard, improve and take my chance when it comes.”
