Willian to Barcelona OFF? Massive Man Utd boost as Barca rethink Chelsea transfer
Barcelona and Manchester United have been linked with a deal for Willian for weeks.
The Nou Camp giants were said to have lodged two offers already this summer, while United watch on.
Jose Mourinho is keen to get deals done and is set for showdown talks with Ed Woodward over the Red Devils’ transfer dealings.
Chelsea want £60m for Willian and have already rejected an approach from Barcelona.
But the Blues appear to have priced the La Liga champions out of the market, with Barca now rethinking their transfer plans.
According to Catalonian newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have dropped Willian down their priorities list.
The club will now refuse to pay anything more than £31.2m (€35m).
However, that does not mean a deal is dead in the water.
United may be favourites to sign Willian but Mundo Deportivo claim Chelsea could reduce their demands – thus enticing Barcelona again – if they land Aleksandr Golovin.
A deal for the Russian, who is valued at £25m, could lead Chelsea to push for Willian’s exit in order for them to avoid Financial Fair Play breaches.
As for United, they have signed three players this summer and Mourinho appears consigned to landing very few other targets.
Speaking on Sunday night, he said: “One thing is what I want and another thing is what is going to happen.”
